Dragons and Dreams

Here is the CD Sunday challenge card I promised to put on here a few days ago but only just got around to it.....where do the days go. As I said in the previous post this is my second go at this challenge card as I felt the previous one didn't really fit the theme. I searched through my stash and found this ever so cute image of a baby dragon. It's a CUP image by Aisne Smith. The background is two papers from aCD Vintage Treasures by Krafty Hands. This card is a large DL. I've got 'millions' of envelopes to fit this size of card but I never seem to get around to making any.

I've added a half border in the contrasting turquoise to allow the image to 'pop' .....think it's worked. It could have been too flat if I'd only used my favourite colour...purple....don't you think? The CUP  image is decoupaged. I'll be adding the sentiment later when I decide who'll be receiving this cutey!!

Lemon Lavender and Lace

Hope it's still a hot one in the UK. I expect everyone.well nearly everyone is wondering about the Royal baby .....not long now!!

Today's card started out as a CD Sunday challenge but then I thought not sure if Fairies or is it an Angel really covered the theme Dragons and Dreams so I've made another card for that challenge and I'll post it tomorrow.

I tried a new shape out as I always need something different for my crafty ladies. I'm having a rest  from my weekly sessions as it's too hot here in the Summer to do much and lots of people have visitors so it gives us all a break. Except of course 'yours truly' has to plan for the Autumn so I never really get a break from crafting.

The card was made from one piece of card and a half oblong cut from the centre then half of the card was folded back....piccie will give you a better idea.

The background paper and image were from a CD by Joanne Sheen 'Victorian Angels and Fairies'. I added a
lace border and lavender and lemon bows. The flowers were hand made using circles of lemon paper and then cut in a spiral and rolled up to give a rose shape.

I added leaves cut from the same paper and a lemon bow to finish. The background has cream flowers with an orange centre and of course green leaves so I hope this covers me for the challenge at

Christmas in July....again!!

Now I know you're all melting in  the UK but wait til it gets to 41degrees like it does here in August!! Seriously tho try to keep cool and stay indoors with windows open or fans on, if you've got them. It's not worth getting burnt!!

Looking at all those Christmas in July cards should help keep you cool!! Today I'm going to show a simple card to make. I used two co - ordinated tree shaped triangles one slightly smaller than the other. I cut the smaller one up.  Then jig saw like I put it back together but left a gap between each piece. Hey presto........a fancy tree. I then added a pot in the same way and a bow. Put it on DP and added a greeting underneath.  I think the piccie is clearer than my explanation.

So another one for Xmas card box. I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Phew!!!! Christmas in July!!!

There's lots of Christmas in July challenges around but hey it's doesn't feel like Christmas does it?

There are so many images to choose from for this theme that it was difficult to know where to begin. I spotted 'Sweet' on Totally Gorguss  http://totallygorjuss.blogspot.com.es/search/label/Challenge%20192%20-%20sweet and that's when I decided to go for Janne Sheen's House Mouse triple CD with the mice having a great time decorating the Gingerbread House. Now what could be 'sweeter' than a Gingerbread House covered with yummy sweets and it's Christmassy......so two themes in one!!

I went for simplicity as there's a lot going on in this image. To break the squareness up the corners have been cut and reversed to give the appearance of turned over corners. A simple two word greeting 'Christmas Wishes' from the same CD. The star gems were added and lots of glittery platinum stickles finished it off!!

Pinspirational Purple

I hope you're still having fab weather in the UK. It continues to be hot hot hot here!! Whew!!

Today I'm showing you a stained glass window card inspired by pinspirationalchallenges.
The card is a reverse opening so you can see through the stained glass effect. I decided to show it  closed before scanning so you could see the design better. It's a very simple card to make but the effect I think you'll agree is stunning.

I used a Martha Stewart lacy border punch on the edges of the card. Then cut out the circle from the centre panel and put acetate behind it. The medallion peel off was added and then coloured with peel off pens. I added peel off flourishes to each corner and edged the circle in silver. I don't use peel offs very often these days so it was great to play with them again today.

Another card for the charity 'pot'.

Summer Sun Hats

I expect you're alll out enjoying the heatwave in the UK. Doesn't it make you feel good!! I had to say 'Goodbye' this week as Guest DT with CD Sunday. I had such fun. Welcome to Tess who's this month Guest DT. I'm sure you'll have as much fun as I did.

The challenge at CD Sunday this week is HATS and what a fab selection the team have for you. The sponsor is Jems Designs and the winner will get a CD of their choice. Wow how great is that!!

I've gone for 'sun hats', prompted by the weather of course, and for a change I've made a tag card. The image and background paper are from an almost forgotten Joanne Sheen CD 'Victorian Birthdays'.

I feel this card would be perfect for an anniversary. The words are beautiful,

''Thou art the star that guides me
Along life's challenging sea
And whatever fate betides me
This heart still turns to thee''
by George P Morris

I've added a large flower diecut and a wavy border die cut. The three wooden star fish are from my stash as is the blue netting .........where do we get all these yummy goodies. I've finished it off with a double bow of lace and ribbon and ribbon flower. Oh and some platinum and gold stickle on the sunhats.

Dancing with Shadows

It's been a very hot week here in Cyprus. The whole place is buzzing with tourists which is fantastic for economy. We had a lovely day out at Pissouri yesterday. It was quieter than Paphos but still busy for a small coastal village. We watched some guy kite surfing. Boy do they have to be strong. I thought he'd be blown away one point, as there were some strong winds down at the coast. He was certainly 'dancing' above the waves from time to time!!!

Ok back to this week's challenge at CD Sunday and my last week as Guest Designer....soooo sad!!
The challenge 'Dance' was chosen by Carol.
I decided on the Joanne Sheen CD 'Dancing with Shadows'. Some fab black and white images on this CD the image I chose however does have a hint of orange. I went for a stepper card this time. They always look effective and so easy to make. I used orange card to pick up the orange in the image.

I added  black sequin strips and flowers. Black ribbbon and bows on the bottom step with a sentiment from my stash 'Happy Days'. The card will be perfect for a friend who many years ago loved to dance. Now.....well let's just say.....'old age is a bummer!!'....I'll let you guess. That's right no longer able to dance but boy when we were able to we certainly had  'happy days' dancing!!
Thank you Carol, for choosing the theme and allowing be to go down memory lane. Thank you to CD Sunday for allowing me to have a fab time with you all this month as Guest Designer.
Fingers crossed someone views my blog this week as I got no takers last week :( I know we're all sooooooooo busy. Catch you sometime and don't forget to visit the fab creations by the rest of the team at CD Sunday
