CD Sunday

Good Morning to you from Cyprus. We have lots to tell you at CD Sunday this week.

To begin with we have some new design team members joining us. I hope you'll congratulate them and give them some love. Don't pop over yet though to see who it is as I need to tell you first what our next challenge is.......be patient please!!!

It's been chosen by the lovely Jocelyn and she wants you to use lilac in your creation. So our theme is 'Let's Go Lilac'!! This is my inspiration for you

I began with A4 lilac card stock and created an A5 card base.  The layout and designer paper used are from Ooh La La's CD  'Teentastique'. The die cut butterfly was cut twice in lilac and purple, for contrast, and paper pieced. I used the same lilac and purple card stock to die cut 'Happy Birthday' too. The top one being offset to create a shadow with the darker purple.

You'll love the team's creations so don't forget to visit them to give them some love.

Now you can pop over to CD Sunday to see who'll be joining our great design team. A big Welcome from me to them too!!..............Now who is it????

Have fun!!

Crafting with Dragonflies.

Thank you all for your fabulous entries in last time's challenge 'Congratulation's. You have made my job really difficult trying to choose a Top Three. Hilde will post my choice next week.

This time you are challenged to add an animal to your card. I decided to make one of the 'On the Shelf' cards from CUP.

It's a cute pussy cat with a matching envelope.

I hope you find time to pop over to Crafting with Dragonflies ( link in sidebar) and see what the rest of the team have created and I hope you'll be inspired to join us. Don't forget it's cards only for this challenge.

I hope you're all having a great weekend. I look forward to visiting you all soon.

Have fun!!

Recycling at Unstampabelles

Good Morning. We still have our monthly challenge at Unstampabelles. Susan is asking you to recycle or repurpose something. The twist is to include something that is over a year old. This could be the recycled product or something else.

I had a notebook lying around....as you do...that I had started using to note down my list of CDs. Anyway I abandoned it for some reason and it lay unloved. So I tore out the used pages and decided to recycle it into a recipe book .....much more useful in this house.

Before

After

I covered the outer perspect cover with red gingham check. I found a template for an apron so I used a scrap of blue gingham check to make the apron adding a pocket with a snippet of small checked red gingham card. I had a packet of wooden rolling pins.....not sure where they came from as there is no label on the packet.....so old you see. I popped one in the pocket using 3D tape to secure. I then googled ....'handwritten recipes'..... and came up with some useful images which I shrunk to size and added these to the front cover. One I made into a tiny old fashioned recipe book and placed it in the pocket.

Then I started on the inside.

I covered the inside left cover with red gingham again and the right page is covered with blue gingham. The two recipes on the inside right were in My Pictures......now which site did I get these from.....Hmmmm can't remember sorry. On the left I made a pocket for a bookmark....always useful when finding a recipe as I always lose the page!!! The 'What's Cooking? was printed on card stock. This was a freebie in a magazine....eons ago....'Simply Cards and Papercrafts' Issue 80.
The bookmark is from a Joanne Sheen CD Artwork by Janet Kruskamp. I fastened raffia to the top.

Inside back cover was again covered in red card stock. The images are more 'googled' ones.

And finally the the back cover....phewwwwwww....covered with the red gingham card stock and 'googled' images added. Eh Voila!!

This should have come with a picture alert warning!!

Do pop over to Unstampabelles for more recycling ideas from the team. There's a yummy prize on offer too.

It's a very useful Happy Birthday die by Crafters Companion and some diecut balloons etc.
Looking forward to seeing what you create for us and don't forget no stamping please......digi or otherwise....it's UNSTAMPabelles!!

Have a great week crafting folks!!

'Something beginning with 'B' '

Good Morning to you all from a very sunny Cyprus. It's time for another challenge at CD Sunday......where do the days go!!!

We had some lovely entries for our 'Songs from the Movies' challenge. There were lots of memories jogged with this one I can tell you. Some songs we hadn't heard for such a long time. I really enjoyed visiting you all and recalling some long forgotten songs. Carol is busy choosing her Top Three but you'll have to wait another two weeks for the result.

Now our Birthday Celebrations are over and we're tasked with choosing some winners. We are one DT member short at the moment, as Sue is on her hollibobs!! So you'll have to wait a wee while yet for the winners to be announced.

Don't forget we still have a DT call. Details on the challenge blog (link in sidebar)

Now on to this times challenge and it was my turn to choose. Something easy peasy I think. It's something beginning with 'B' Now I'm sure you can think of many many things.

This is my inspiration for you. 'B' for Baby!!

I used the lovely Paula Oakley CD from Ooh La La. This is a great CD with some super artwork. The background paper , image and tag are all from the same CD. The only extra thing I added was the tiny bow on top of the tag. So very easy to put together. (Don't you just love CDs ......they make a crafters life very easy!)

I hope you all have a fun week and can find time to visit CD Sunday (link in sidebar) and see what the rest of the team were inspired to make......you won't be disappointed!!

#57 Congratulations......cards only

Good Morning followers. It's time for another challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies. Hilde has asked us to make any card that depicts the occasions when we say' Congratulations!' So you have lots of scope with this one. I'm thinking Weddings,  Births, Engagements, Anniversary. passing of exams etc etc. I'm sure you can think of other reasons too.

I have made a Wedding card.

As Cyprus is very popular for Weddings at this time of the year busy I thought it was apt to go with 'Weddings'.

My card is a folded A4 piece of white card stock. The large central heart was die cut . I placed a variety of white ribbons in the aperture. I embossed a border across top and bottom to frame it. Then I die cut two heart shapes and embossed these with the dotty embossing folder. White flat backed pearls were placed along the edge of the embossed strip and on the smaller hearts. They vary in size, as do the pearls on the wire spray that runs across the aperture from the tiny hearts.
Finally I added two sentiments from my stash. 'Wedding Day Dreams will all come True' and 'Shared Dreams'.

I hope you can join in our ' just for fun' challenge and remember it's cards only. Link to Crafting with Dragonflies in sidebar.

Have a lovely week everyone!!

# 204 OLL 'Mythical'

Good Morning crafters I hope the sun is still shining in the UK. Great weather I know was forecast so I hope the weather people got it right for you!! We had rain the last few days and a wee bit chilly ....for me up here in the hills!! But we need the rain so shouldn't moan!!

Now on to our next challenge at Ooh La La. Susan has chosen an interesting one for you this time 'Mythical'. We had some lovely entries for Allison's photo inspiration. Some of you with your clever interpretations have made the choice of Top Three difficult for her but she's done it and if you click the link in the sidebar you'll find out if you're a winner.

My inspiration for you is taken from an Ooh La La CD 'Teentastique'. There's lots of suitable images on there to choose from for this topic so it didn't make it easy for me. Anyway this is the image I chose.

Isn't this cute. It's a small child with a dragon and lots of butterflies. It's from the file 'Butterfly Maker'. The image/layout are already there for you on the CD.
I used the swirly background paper from the CD and added a purple strip of card stock which I'd embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. I then added a die cut dragon fly with green and purple card  and added green gems. ( Why a dragon fly and not a butterfly.... I hear you ask....well my butterfly dies were all too large and would have swamped the image. So artistic licence was taken!!) The organza bow in purple and a green gem were added to finish.

I hope I've inspired you. For more fab creations pop over to the challenge blog 9 link in sidebar) andf see what the rest have the team have created. Don't forget we also have a DT call. So if you love working with CDs you could be part of this fab team. All the details for applying are on the challenge blog. There's also freebies on offer in the OLL Craft Shop just click on the link ooh-la-la-creations .

I hope you have a great week crafting and I look forward to seeing you all soon when I visit your blogs to take a peep at your interpretation of our challenge this fortnight.

'Songs from the Movies' with CD Sunday.and a DT call.

Good Morning crafters from a  very sunny Cyprus and Kalo Paxa/Pacha.....Happy Easter.....to everyone in Cyprus. Yes it's Easter Sunday here in Cyprus which is much later than the UK this year. This is a much bigger celebration here than Christmas is. Many, many church events and bonfires and fireworks etc. and the red egg of course which is synonimous with Easter here. Also the Flaounes which is traditional Easter Bread.
I have a You tube link for you of the recipe and the making of the Flaounes for those who are keen bakers. Flaounes Easter Bread

Now on to my post for the CD Sunday challenge this fortnight. We had some fab entries for our 6th birthday challenge last time and I know many of you enjoyed trawling through your archives to select your entry....great fun!! We are going to have a difficult time choosing our winners .....so watch this space!!

This time's challenge is 'Songs from the Movies' chosen by the lovely Carol. I'm sure you'll have fun with this one too. I know I did. Here is my inspiration for you.

It's an exploding box using the CD 'Makey Bakey Mice...... All Ocassions'. This one has those mice attempting to sew using a sewing machine. This led me to search for an appropriate 'Song from a Movies' and what better than the 'The Sewing Machine' song for a very very old movie. Most of you woin't remember this one but those of a certain age will. Here is the link to the video. It's from a 1940's musical starring a very, very young Betty Hutton.'The Sewing Machine' song. Enjoy!!

The template for the box was on the CD so very easy to put together but you need lots of A4 card for this one. Here is the opened exploding box.

I added greetings from my stash to some of the layers and the little 'plate' of cakes was made using a circle of card and a snippet of a doiley. The cakes are made from flimo  with a gold 'Surprise' greeting added.

Sorry for the long post it should have come with a warning to grab a cuppa!!!
I hope I've inspired you and you pop over to CD Sunday to see what the rest of the team have made for you to enjoy....you won't be disappointed. There's also the Top Threes for our last challenges and a DT call. So lots to look at there. Have a fun week and I hope your cold weather in the UK has improved.
