#179 ' Nursery Times'

Good morning from a beautiful Cyprus . Yeh!!! the sun is shining and the wind has finally dropped. So I'm a happy bunny again x The sky is bright blue and there's not a cloud to be seen. This is such a change from last week. Long may it last.

Over at Ooh La La  we have another challenge for you . This time it is Susan's turn to choose the theme and she's selected 'Nursery Times'. So plenty of scope there for a baby card. Our last challenge was 'Lots of Layers' and you really liked this one. We had a lot of entries .Pauline has chosen her Top Three' tho so off you pop to see who won ( link in sidebar) ....it might be you.

For my creation I went literally for things you find in a nursery. My teamies went for a variety of Nursery Rhymes . So you see plenty of scope for interpretation.

Now what Nursery wouldn't be complete without a teddy so that's what I've chosen
The CD I used was  OLL's 'Everyday Occasions'. The background paper, main image and image strip are all from the CD. I added a greeting and a tiny bib and diecut teddy which I found in my stash.
The main image is mounted on navy blue card stock and I hand cut a banner strip in the same card and placed it down the side with the small images added to it. I placed two pale blue buttons on the bottom points to 'lift' it as I thought the navy blue might seem a bit dark for a baby. Tiny bright blue gems were place on top of the buttons.....they look like googly eyes to me!!

Now who doesn't like making baby cards.....I know I do. There are a few Baby challenges out there in blogland so you could combine this challenge with others if you wished to.

Off you go and have fun creating. Speak again soon and if you visit I'll do my best to pop back and say Hi to you. All comments are read and much appreciated.

Final Count Down

It's the final few days with Unstampabelles. It was a very easy challenge this time, a baby card, but we haven't had may takers so far. There is a twist, to make your card untraditional, but it's not compulsory just something to stretch your imagination. The project should not use stamps , digi or otherwise but that leaves still plenty of scope for your creativity.

The prize is this cute die from Susan.

The bottle of glue is only to indicate the size of the die and is not part of the prize.

This time I've gone with a CAS card and it has a retro feel I think. Not truly non trad but I think it passes the twist challenge.

It doesn't have to be a card you could make anything really e.g. ATC's, a wall hanging, a gift box, scrapbook page etc. Pop over to Unstampabelles(link in sidebar) and see what the rest of the design team have created to inspire you. There are a few other 'Baby' challenges out there in blogland this week so you could combine it with any one of those too.

Have fun and I hope we'll get a few more taking up our challenges to win that great die.
Happy creating!!

'Oh Baby'

The Unstampabelles are still looking for all those lovely baby creations from you this month. There is a twist like every month and this time it's to come up with something Non Traditional. Please visit the challenge blog and see what the team have created to inspire you so far (unstampabelles link )

Here is some further inspiration from me using the twist Non Traditional. I created this see through card in purple.

The main card is a back to front central opening card. I cut out an arched aperture and placed the horse rocker , which I found in my stash. across the centre. Additional balloon peel offs were placed up one side with a peel off  'Congratulations' sentiment on the other. Gold peel off edging was put around archway and down the side. I also put  some peel off waste on the saddle, bridle and pole.

The prize this time is  donated by Susan and it's a cute die and it'll be chosen as usual by Mr Linky.

Please note the glue is not a prize it's shown only to give you an idea as to how big the die is.

So thinking caps on to create something for Baby in a non traditional way. It's not necessary to use the twist to be the DT's winner but it's good to challenge your creativity from time to time don't you think. And finally don't forget NO STAMPS please.

Have fun!!!

Layer it Up with Christine.

Good Morning from wobbly Cyprus!!! Yes we have an earthquake this week. Thank goodness no one was hurt but there was a bit of damage in supermarkets with stuff flying off shelves.

It was quite strong but didn't last long. So we can relax again and count our blessings that we all survived.

On to this week's challenge at CD Sunday and we are Layering It Up again!! Christine has chosen our theme this time and I think you'll agree that there's lots of scope for your creativity with this one. We had lots of fab entries last time with CAS cards and I know Jenny is having a hard time deciding on her top three. We still have our tribute running to Wendy, aka Purple Crazy, and there are extra prizes been added all of the time . So don't forget to dust off those CDs and find something Purple in remembrance of Wendy Link

This is my inspiration for you.

(Sorry about picture quality.....bit dark isn't it!!)

I began with a square white card which I scalloped using a fancy trimmer. The bottom layer is lilac card cut to size and embossed. The central layer is a piece of background paper from a Joanne Sheen CD 'Eastern Treasures'. The large flower topper is a punched out shape from plain white card. I then used the same background paper to punch out the small flower heads and covered the large shape. In the centre is a white flower button with another flower head and flat backed pearl layered on top. I also randomly placed pearls on the flower heads too.

To complete I added two heart pins and a small white bow plus pearls in each corner. The sentiment 'Have a fabulous day' is from another CD by Debbie Moore 'My Fair Lady'.

I hope you've been inspired with my take on 'Layer it up'. For more inspiration please visit CD Sunday and see what the rest of my teamies have created for you Link
Don't forget to be in with a chance of winning a lovely prize from Christine you must use a CD in your creation and tell us which one you've used please.

Have fun.....I did!!

OLL 'Lots of Layers'

Good Morning from a cold and gloomy Cyprus. Think we are back to Winter here. NO!!! I hate the cold..... can you tell.

Well over at Ooh La La Pauline has set the challenge as 'Lots of Layers' That's what I've got on at the moment lol.....got to keep the cold out!!
I've chosen a lovely CD 'Dreams of Tranquility'.

The image has lots of pyramage layers. So perfect for the challenge. It's a while since I used this technique but I did enjoy it. The image, matting, background paper, ribbon strip and button shadow are all papers from the same CD. The two buttons are a die cut using Kraft card which was sent to me from one of my DT teamies....thank you xx. This is now in my birthday card folder for a friend who has a birthday shortly. I know I'm not alone when I say I struggle with  making men's cards but I enjoyed this one.
This challenge gives you lots of scope as your card could be for any occasion. So off you pop to OLL (link in sidebar) and don't forget to visit my teamies and give them some love too.
Have fun!!

Tribute to Wendy....'Purple Crazy'

Good Morning to you. Well you may be surprised to see me posting this week for CD Sunday but we  have a special challenge planned for you.

As some of you may recall we told you about losing our lovely team member Wendy (aka Purple Crazy). Wendy had to step down late last year as her health was making  her life challenging. Sadly Wendy lost her battle . We have sent condolences to her husband, George, and her family but we thought we would run a Challenge in her memory.

The challenge will run for one month alongside our normal challenge and it will have it's own special prizes. The prize is:
  1. Download from Nikki at Polkadoodles Work and Play " Love and Kisses Collection"
  2. CD Polkadoodles Double Sprinkles of Kraft
  3. CD 'Projects and Techniques' from Ali Reeve
  4. CD La Pashe 'Behind Closed Doors' Pop up Cards
  5. Three House Mouse Designs Rubber Stamps 2 x Gruffies and 1 x Meeces

Wendy was a lovely lady with a passion for all things crafty. More especially she loved the colour purple. In honour of this we have all created cards which we hope reflects all that was Wendy. So please join in and make a 'Purple Crazy' card that would have made Wendy smile purple-crazy-tribute challenge

Wendy Rayner RIP

This is my tribute card.

The image is from Debbie Moore' My Fair Lady' CD.
It's a centre step card and the purple pansies are made from vellum. The rest of the embellishments are from the CD.

Our normal challenge is still running for another week ' Clean and Simple' link. So if you still haven't entered there's still time.

The usual rules apply to both these challenges, you must use something from a CD but you can make anything you want to make, but do please give credit to the CD you use and link back to CD Sunday challenge blog with your entry.

Have fun and make this challenge a fitting tribute to our lovely Wendy aka Purple Crazy.

'Oh Baby' the Belles have a new challenge

Can you believe another month has flown by and it's time for a new challenge at Unstampabelles (link in sidebar). It's Easter Monday (well still Sunday here but in Tasmania where our lovely leader lives it'll be Monday) and I hope everyone is having fun and haven't eaten too much chocolate. We don't celebrate Easter here in Cyprus until next weekend so we get two lots of chocolate.....mmmm I wish!!

On to this months challenge at Unstampabelles. Susan has challenged us to make a project with a Baby theme and the twist is Non Traditional plus no stamps!! Yes you can do it....honest!!

The prize is this sweet die cut from Susan. There's a bottle of glue photographed beside it to give you an idea of size. Definitely worth having a go to win this generous prize. So what are you waiting for!!

This is my inspiration for you.

I went with green. I know not a typical baby colour but the sweet image I found in my stash was predominantly green so I thought Yes.....'non traditional'. What do you think? Am I correct???

I folded a white A4 sheet of card and added the toppers from a sheet by Peerless Designs 2011......so you can see I've had this a while. So thank you Susan you made me dig deep in my stash to use one of the many goodies that have been bought but never ended up using. Well not til today that is!! The extra embellishments were also on the sheet except for the flower strip along the bottom which matched perfectly but again adding flowers to a Baby card isn't the norm in my book.....so another non-trad feature.

As it's Spring you could go with baby animals I suppose. Up to you, just let your imagination go with the flow and don't forget NO STAMPS please!!

'Clean and Simple' with Jenny

Good Sunday Morning to you all and Happy Easter to my UK bloggers. It's not Easter here til next weekend so the expats get double the Easter goodies from the Easter bunny.....if they are good boys and girls of course!!

This time our challenge at CD Sunday is 'Clean and Simple' chosen by Jenny. If you want to know who has won the 'Shabby Chic' challenge pop over to CD Sunday (link in sidebar) and take a peep.....if might be YOU!! There were lots of fab entries and Sue has had problems deciding on her Top Three.

So 'Clean and Simple', what are we looking for. A simply made card with no fuss is my interpretation so that's what I did.

I took a piece of white card stock folded it and added this pretty image from Ooh La La 'Carnival of Colour' CD plus a sentiment, from my stash, to the bottom corner and Voila.....card finished. So simple!!!

My teamies have made a variety of creations and although ' Clean and Simple' they are all very different. So grab your cuppa and go visit and give them some love on this fine Easter morning.

Hope you're having a lovely Easter day and haven't eaten too many chocolate bunnies!!.....remember the calories girls and boys. Have fun xx

Ooh La La .....a sneak peek!!!

Happy Easter to you all.

Well I have some very exciting news from Ooh La La creations link here. They are launching their latest CD on Tuesday 7th April, Create and Craft TV channel link here, at 2pm (UK time).

The artwork on this CD is by Paula Oakley and it's stunning. There is something for every occasion on this CD and if you click on the link above you can view some of the fab designs before the launch.

The design team were very fortunate to get to play with this latest CD and I'm showing you below two of the cards I made for the launch.

Isn't the artwork amazing? Everything I have used to create this card is on the CD including the sentiment, bow and buckle strap down the side.

Well what can I say about this artwork.......spectacular!! It cries out 'bling' but I resisted as I didn't want to detract from the wonderful artwork. The colours and detail are amazing!!

Don't forget to switch on and watch Create and Craft (link higher up on post)  Easter Tuesday at 2pm, and see Kathryn Sturrock's demonstrations using this fab new CD. Have fun and Happy Easter to you and your families.
