'S' is for ...........

...........this is Beryl's challenge for us at CD Sunday.

So sorry for the lateness of posting but internet has only just come back on again. The joys of living in Paradise peeps!!

I started making my card thinking 'S' for shed but this card as you'll see has ended up being 'S' for shed, spots, stripes and string. It's a pop up card that I did at my craft group. I love pop ups but rarely get around to making them. The CD I used on the front of the card was my prize on CD Sunday 'Forest Friends' by Sharon Duncan.

The ceramic flower pot was from my stash. The sentiment is courtesy of me 'It's your day.....time to potter....'

The sentiment inside is from Debbie Moores' Shabby Chic collection.
The shed is a basic pop up and I used wood and stone BP from my stash. The sky was stamped with blue china disress ink on white paper...........just swirled it around and voila sky!!! The wheel barrow and tree where from my stash. The inside of the shed has also been decorated with gardening stuff but you can't see it from this angle sorry.

Don't forget to pop over to
CD Sunday to see the great selection that the teamies have come up with to inspire you. I'm sure you'll agree this is a great challenge by Beryl. I hope you have as much fun as I did.

Kimono

I'm feeling much better at the moment. I know the sunshine helps but I also got the all clear from the hospital this week. So roll on the Summer. My youngest step son will be home on leave soon  and my son and his wife and the youngest of my grandbabies, Alex.....well not a baby anymore..... will be here in August. So life is looking good again!!!

I am really enjoying my time as Guest Designer with CD Sunday and this week it's Caz's turn to choose the theme and she's challenged us with  'Kimono'.

Now I've lots of oriental stuff in my stash so it was a case of finding something I could work with. I decided to go with a box card I'd demo'd to my group a while back. It doubles as a card and gift box and it folds flat for posting. Not my own idea tho, it was designed  by Valita at http://valitasfreshfolds.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/making-simple-box-card.html

Anything oriental and I usually think of Joanne Sheen. The image I have used is from CD 1 Oriental Dreams and the backing paper and borders are from CD 2.

There were so many fab images on this CD that it was hard to choose. I double mounted the smaller images with gold card from my stash. I have used a larger version of the same image  inside  the 'box'. I added gold tassles and tiny gold bells as fasteners.

The 'box' is strong enough to take lightweight gifts such as a necklace, earrings, gift tags etc. Of course it can be made in any design. The previous one I made had flowers down the side panels. So anything really depends on the occassion. It would make an ideal wedding card with a money / gift card inside or a Christmas gift.

Don't forget to pop over to CD Sunday http://cdsundaychallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ and see the fab oriental creations the rest of the teamies have come up with to inspire you.

Hey Baby!

We've been  'playing' at my craft group again with making our own backgrounds. I showed them the patchwork idea taht I'd shown you on my blog a few weeks ago. It's very simple , just 5 x 5cms squares pieced together to cover the A4 card. I used patterned co-ordinating pieces but you could just as effectively use plain.

I looked at the sketch on the Totally Gorguss challenge blog and followed that.

I layered the baby image on a sizzex scalloped die cut. The lacey edge is from Forest Friends CD by Sharon Duncan. I added 2 card candy flowers, yellow bow and 3 green butterfly beads to finish it off. The 'Welcome' greeting has been in my stash for eons but only just found it at the bottom of the pile .....as you do!!

So something a bit different for a baby card. I'll put this to one side for a friends' new grandbaby.....not sure of the sex so the colours will cover all 'makes and sizes' I think!

Challenges:
                   totallygorjuss..............188-hey-baby.
                   countryview............... die cuts
                   createdwithlove .......   anything goes
                   aud sentiments ...........anything goes

Fine Plummage

Jocelyn, for this week's challenge over at CD Sunday, has chosen 'Fine Plummage'. This conjures up a number of images but I went for the obvious....birds.

I had found some fab images on the Pyramid Krazy CD.....an old standby....I can always find something suitable on there. The background is from Ooh La La Faithful Friends CD. It's not clear on the piccie but it has a fine, feathery look. The card style is very simple to make. It's an A4 card folded into four equal parts..........quadfold. I have used this before and made each section into a tag but this time I thought I'd try to make them into golden birdcages......for my fine feathered friends. Hope you think I've succeeded.

I chose three images and added a sentiment to panel three. Each panel was decorated with gold straight line peeloffs to give the appearance of a birdcage and a gold corner peeloff was added to the top of the 'cage'.

I made a golden bow and tied turquoise ribbon around the knot.

For panel three I stamped a frame using Tim Holtz distress ink and added the sentiment ''I wish I could fly to where you are.'' Of course I had to add a feather just to make it a bit fluffy and a gold organza bow to finish it off.

If you want to see other fab creations from the rest of the team pop over to  CD Sunday and enjoy!!

Challenges: bunnyzoescrafts .....wings

Faithful Friends

I am so excited as this will my first week as a Guest Designer for June for CD Sunday. Thank you for inviting me join your team. I hope my crafty attempts are up to standard.

This month CD Sunday are  being sponsored by Ooh-la-la and the team have been given images from their new CD 'Faithful Friends'. How lucky were we!!! I have chosen a golden retriever as my image. They are beautiful dogs and soooooooo good with children. The card is a double diamond shape so lots of accurate measuring and scoring with this one.....then fingers crossed that it all fits together perfectly. I'm not resposible for the design tho. My fellow crafter, Terri, brought it along to the Craft Group and demonstrated this new fold for us......well new to us crafters in Cyprus that is. Thank you Terri.

I used white card stock for the main card and  navy blue from my stash to contrast with the blue dotty background paper from the CD. The images and greetings are also from the CD. When finished I tied it together with blue string cord.

Opened out you can see that I used the blue dotty background paper on the back panel plus a circular insert, also from the CD. I hope you're happy with my first attempt team?

You really need to pop over to Ooh La La to see some of their many stunning CDs. And whilst you're 'hopping' about don't forget to visit the  CD Sunday challenge blog to see the fab creations from the rest of the team.
